Many of us have taken Internet marketing, Blogging, YouTube content creation and such as our full-time profession. It is no bad a decision and it is no bad a path to be taken even for the entire life. But, did we take it too soon in our life?
I’m 28 and I’ve graduated to become a Dentist before I decided that I have my interest in blogging, writing, and getting people to follow me and my thoughts on the Internet, though that is no where related to my profession. But, that is all after I graduated. Some might argue that I wasted about 8 years of life in studying something I am not going to use to earn my bread and butter, but then, I at least realized before it was too late.
It wasn’t, at any point, as disturbing as the current situation on the Internet that I see is. Kids, literally in the age of 13-15 are trying to find numerous ways to earn money on the web. Some try to freelance and work for others, others think of taking risks and investing to see how well can they succeed.
Working for others isn’t wrong, taking risks too isn’t wrong. But what is wrong is the age concerned here. Kids, you are not even out of your school while doing this. What brought you to think that you have to earn money so early in your life?
Believe me, this comes from someone who has seen the scene of blogging changing at so many levels in the past 10 years. From 2006 to 2016. And this comes from someone who has a proper educational backup, and still doesn’t rely on it because he is capable of doing something he gained experience in. I am not burning in jealousy if you are reading this and have such thinking in your mind. Seriously, you are no way going to hurt my business or come in the way on the path I am traveling on, so take this positively but give it a thought, please.
I am sure that age doesn’t matter when you take a decision about something. In fact, you might have made harder decisions already in your 13-15 years of life, but that shouldn’t be a reason for you to get inspired in taking this stupid decision that you have to already start earning, but entrepreneurship is the way forward for you. There is much more in your life that you have to see before you start the serious life of making money. In case you have your hands tied down and are in a family with tight financial conditions, it is well understandable but it is a fraction of the total number that might be in such a situation.
I asked a 15-year old kid who was making a decent amount of money that is enough to actually run his entire household.. “What do you aim to do for your future? Is earning this much money enough to secure your future?”
I did expect the answer and was so much disappointed with it – “I don’t want to see my dad earn anymore. He doesn’t have to go to office in a couple of years from now. I want to prove that I can take care of things and I will prove it. When I can easily earn money online, why should my dad work hard?”
“Okay, did you tell this to your father?”.. .. “No, he won’t like it as he wants me to study and I don’t have to study to earn and he doesn’t understand this”.
What? Do you even realize where you are going to? Your father doesn’t know what kind of deep shit are you going into? In an age where you should be getting a strict amount of pocket money and be holding books in your hand to learn something, you think of earning and find a reason to tell people if they ask why are you doing it? DO YOU REALIZE how wrong in a path are you? If you fail after, say, 8-10 years later.. you won’t even know how to accept the failure.
“Earning money” is not the ultimate goal in one’s life. Learning things is far more important. You are freelancing for someone and getting a decent amount, but you are wasting those hours that you should have spent learning something to build up a proper future.
DO YOU KNOW what you are going to do in the future? If earning money is the only goal, you are totally wrong in thinking so.
Set a goal, think of something that you want to become. If you want to become an entrepreneur, an Internet marketing head, or even a guru of a certain online industry, you should be the one spending already in learning stuff rather than trying to earn the few thousands of dollars that are initially the easiest to earn but you would realize later that it is getting harder and worse when thousands of similar-minded people are sitting in the same Internet cafe in the next cabin trying to do exactly what you are doing.
Here’s where I made a mistake while studying in a college
School isn’t going to teach you everything. That is true. Even my Dental college didn’t teach me how to make money by running a dental practice and after getting out of college.
But what did I do? Should I sit and blame the education system for this? Most of my colleagues got trained for a good time with some successful practitioners and several in them got nothing in payment for that. What they got is experience, education, and practical support to help them understand how things can be handled while taking your professional life ahead in terms of business.
I thought this is all not possible, and I anyway had written online for several years and had blogging as a better earner and business. But do you think you can do that without a professional backup?
Not everyone would end up as an entrepreneur doing the same thing that thousands of others are doing. You might be doing it, just to prove me wrong or just for the sake of it, but you won’t earn enough and then regret not having a proper educational support on the other side, if you were looking for a proper employment after a failed attempt.
Life is still at large, there’s a lot to look ahead at. Don’t waste your current time in making the quick bucks and hurt your future already. It is easy, I’m sure, to make money. But your life isn’t going to be that easy with these quick short methods that you are using currently.
I don’t want to discourage those who are seriously into building something, their image, or a startup already with the right mindset. Age won’t be an excuse here, but you know who I am saying all this to. There’s still time, utilize it in the right way.
